Free smart bike parking and e-bike charging in Whistler

In August 2024 Urban Racks brought Bikeep smart bike parking to Whistler, the mountain resort town in British Columbia, working with the Resort Municipality of Whistler. Three stations opened at Whistler Olympic Plaza, Meadow Park Sports Centre and outside The Blackcomb in Whistler Village. Parking is free.

Whistler's mayor rides an e-bike himself and saw the stations as part of the town's climate goals.

How it works

• Frame and front wheel locked. An integrated locking arm holds the bike in two places and fits a wide range of bikes.
• Charging locker. A secure locker built into the dock lets riders plug in and store their own charger while the e-bike charges.
• App. Riders find a free dock and lock or unlock their bike from their phone.
• Free. There is no charge to park.

The three stations have logged about 3,300 parkings by more than 600 different riders since they opened.
