May 2026 Newsletter

Most property managers don't care about smart technology. They care about not getting complaints, not having to call support, and a system that runs and stays out of their way.

"Property managers don't want a smart system. They want a problem that disappears. That's what we're building toward."

Kristjan Lind, CEO, Bikeep

Smart Commute stations rolling out across the USA

Plenty of cities talk about cycling infrastructure. Fewer build it, and the US has been closing that gap faster than most people expected.

Together with Dero Bike Racks, we are supporting the rollout of Smart Commute stations that make cycling to work practical, not just appealing in theory. These are permanent installations designed for daily use, built around what commuters actually need.

  • Secure bike lockers for full-frame protection, the kind of security that convinces someone to ride a bike worth protecting
  • Smart docks for quick parking when you're in a hurry
  • App-based access and management, so operators stay in control without adding headcount

That mix serves two riders at once. The daily commuter needs guaranteed, secure storage every morning. The occasional rider just needs somewhere reliable to leave a bike when the weather cooperates. One installation covers both, and makes a much stronger case for cycling as the default commute.

Secure parking comes before cycling adoption. People don't ride more because a city asks them to. They ride more when the practical objections disappear, and "where do I leave my bike safely?" is one of the first on the list.

Internal bike sharing launches in Serbia

Not every mobility challenge needs a public bike-share system. Sometimes a campus just needs a smarter way to manage the bikes it already has.

Our first A-A Internal Rental Station is live in Serbia. Bikes are checked out and returned at the same station, access runs through the app, and there is no GPS tracking or operational overhead. The bikes keep moving, under the control of the people who own them.

It is a small deployment by some measures. But this kind of setup tends to spread. One building becomes three, and three become a campus-wide standard.

Big thanks to Marko Arambasic for making this one happen. It is great to see local partners turning ideas into infrastructure.

The network in Iceland keeps growing

Iceland has a small population and a serious commitment to sustainable mobility. Its network of Bikeep smart bike parking has been expanding quietly for years, and another station is now live.

What strikes us most is the consistency. The same partners keep investing with the same long-term view. Cycling in Iceland isn't easy, which is exactly why the infrastructure has to be right. A bad experience in tough conditions kills a habit fast.

Thank you to our long-term partners Hjólalausnir and Jónas Björgvinsson for keeping this one moving.

Password-based access control

Managing who can use your bike parking is now simpler. Password-based access control is built for residential buildings, corporate offices, university campuses and any site where controlled access matters. Riders enter a code in the Bikeep app to unlock the parking areas assigned to them.

Property managers handle everything in the Bikeep Console at console.bikeep.com.

  • Add and remove members for full control over who has access
  • Set expiry dates for temporary residents, visitors or seasonal staff
  • Track usage to see how the bike parking is used
  • Customize messages that riders see before and after joining a location
  • Scale from a handful of users to thousands

No hardware changes are needed, which makes it a natural fit for a bike room. It suits HOAs, property management companies, corporate facilities, coworking spaces and educational institutions.

Seven ways to deploy a Bikeep station

We have reorganized the station lineup to make the right fit easier to find. The Smart Stations family now covers seven deployment scenarios.

  • Bike Parking Station. Secure locking for any bike, with a 3-second lock and unlock by app or RFID.
  • E-Bike Parking & Charging Station. Everything above, plus integrated e-bike charging.
  • Scooter Parking & Charging Station. Secure parking with built-in e-scooter charging.
  • Battery Powered (G3). No grid connection and no trenching. It installs in 60 minutes, which suits parks and remote sites.
  • LITE (card-based). RFID only, works offline, no monthly fees, and holds up to 5,000 cards.
  • Dual-Use. Bike and scooter docks mixed on one controller.
  • Internal Rental (A-A). Station-to-station bike sharing for closed environments. You provide the bikes and Bikeep handles access.
