Smart bike parking at Rimi stores in Tallinn and Tartu

Rimi, one of the biggest grocery retailers in the Baltics, has Bikeep smart bike parking stations outside eight of its stores in Estonia. Parking is free, and shoppers can lock up their bike right by the entrance.

It started at Hiiu

Rimi first tried a Bikeep station at Hiiu Rimi in Nõmme. The experience was good, so in 2022 Rimi decided to expand to more stores, choosing the locations where customers had asked for Bikeep parking.

Where to park at Rimi

• Tallinn. Hiiu Rimi, Põhja Rimi, Sõpruse Rimi, Haabersti Rimi (10 docks) and Rimi at Nautica Keskus.
• Laagri and Viimsi. Laagri Rimi and Viimsi Rimi, just outside the city.
• Tartu. Rebase Rimi.

How it works

Shoppers unlock a dock with the Bikeep app or a contactless card, and a locking bar closes over the frame, so there is no need to bring a lock. Every dock sounds an alarm if someone tampers with a locked bike, and the stations have camera coverage.

Shoppers use them every day

Since mid-2022 the Rimi stations have logged more than 88,000 parkings by about 12,000 different riders.

• Hiiu Rimi is the busiest, with more than 22,000 parkings.
• Põhja Rimi and Haabersti Rimi follow with about 15,000 and 14,000.
• Nautica draws the most different riders after Hiiu, close to 3,000, thanks to its central location.
