Canada's first on-demand, app-activated bike parking system — 142 smart bike parking spots across 6 SkyTrain and transit stations in Greater Vancouver. Bikeep provided its IoT smart lock technology and platform to local partner Urban Racks, who designed, installed, and operates the system for TransLink.
TransLink, Metro Vancouver's regional transit authority, needed to make cycling-to-transit a viable daily commute option. Bike theft was a top barrier holding riders back from cycling to stations. The existing key-based locker system required a $50 deposit and three-month minimum booking, with no way to check availability before arriving. TransLink needed a modern, on-demand solution that would encourage multimodal travel across their SkyTrain and bus network.
Bikeep provided its IoT smart lock technology and cloud platform to local partner Urban Racks, who was awarded a multi-year contract by TransLink to design, install, and operate the system. Together they delivered Canada's first on-demand, app-activated bike parking managed solution. Each solar-powered smart locker accommodates 2 bikes independently with secure, weatherproof storage. Riders use the free Bikeep app for keyless access, real-time availability, and flexible pay-as-you-go pricing at $0.10 CAD/hour (capped at $1/day) or a $10 CAD monthly subscription. The modular locker design was configured to fit each station's unique layout, built for Vancouver's climate with a 20-year asset life.
