We begin with the question: “What is a Smart City?” There are many correct answers, but we believe one that aligns with our vision is: “A smart city is a place where traditional networks and services are made more efficient through digital solutions for the benefit of its inhabitants and businesses.”
Since Bikeep is built for smart cities, here is a list of features we believe serve this purpose, along with real-life examples of how our operator portal (Console.Bikeep.com) has translated smart city ideas into tangible value.
We’ve only scratched the surface and already hit our newsletter length limit—so we’ll wrap it up here for this month. This is just the beginning of our series on the benefits of Bikeep’s digital systems, and there’s much more to come.If you’re eager to dive deeper sooner, feel free to email us at info@bikeep.com or send a message via LinkedIn. We’d be happy to walk you through the full feature set in a private demo.
We’ve launched a full network of cycle hubs in Southend-on-Sea, UK—a major step forward in secure urban bike infrastructure. This system includes 10 secure bike rooms, provided in collaboration with our partner Bailey Street Furniture Group, each equipped with high-quality bike racks. Access is managed through the Bikeep app, with additional peace of mind provided by integrated camera surveillance.
The hubs are open to anyone: simply download the Bikeep app, create a user profile, and pay the usage fee. The service is designed to be just as accessible for residents as it is for tourists—offering secure parking while they explore the beautiful coastal town.
For the city, it was essential that users could register, pay, and start using the system instantly and independently. We’re proud to say that’s exactly what Bikeep has delivered. After a successful pilot phase, the municipality is already considering expansion.
Bikeep solutions are already in use on over 10 campuses—and interest continues to grow. As larger e-scooters and e-bikes become more common, universities and other urban developers are increasingly recognizing the need for secure infrastructure. Not only to prevent theft, but also to manage electric vehicle charging in a structured and controlled way.
We’ll end by sharing with you this “E-Bike Trends to Watch in 2025: Smarter, Lighter, and More Accessible. Increased Affordability and Accessibility of Electric Bikes” LINK
