Revolutionary anti-theft bicycle parking docks unveiled at Belmont Forum
Belmont Forum has unveiled Western Australia's first anti-theft bicycle and e-bicycle parking and charging docks. The aim of the docks is to minimise theft, decrease emissions and promote a healthy lifestyle.
The state-of-the-art smart technology, introduced to WA by emicro and installed by Perth EV Charging Co, includes innovative locking mechanisms, smartphone integration, and 24/7 surveillance to ensure the safe storage and charging of privately owned bikes.
Belmont Forum Head of Operations, Jamie Wilmot said this is a significant milestone for Belmont Forum and Western Australia generally.
Bikeep's smart parking docks allow cyclists to securely lock their bikes and charge their e-bikes using a dedicated mobile app. The system provides real-time availability information and sends alerts to users, offering a level of security that traditional bike racks cannot match. The integration of 24/7 surveillance further deters theft and vandalism, addressing one of the most common barriers to cycling as an everyday mode of transport.
The installation at Belmont Forum reflects a broader shift in how shopping centres and commercial properties are approaching sustainable transport. By providing secure, technology-enabled bike parking, venues can actively encourage visitors to choose cycling over driving — reducing car park congestion, lowering emissions, and supporting the health and wellbeing of the local community.
